Although it's way too early to make any sort of concrete judgement, after the action of the MTN8 opening weekend we have a better idea of the shape the three potential title challengers are in.

Defending champions Sundowns were off to a losing start under new management; Kaizer Chiefs showed excellent character to come from a goal down to get off to a winning start under Gavin Hunt while Orlando Pirates overcame the always-dangerous Cape Town City with a 1-0 win at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

With some shrewd additions to their playing squad, and under the guidance of impressive German tactician Josef Zinnbauer, Pirates may be a dark horse to lift this season's PSL title.
