Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Augusto Palacios has criticised the supposed time-wasting tactics of SuperSport United's players during Pirates' 1-0 defeat in the Telkom Knockout semi-final.

The Peruvian was also critical of the match officials in not dealing with the supposed antics of some of Matsatsantsa's stars and believes Bucs were put at a disadvantage as a result.

SuperSport took an early lead through Thabo Mnyamane and were able to hang on to their lead despite seemingly being on the defensive for much of the contest.

As such, Palacios has hit out at what he perceived as gamesmanship by United. He told reporters, "I don't like to criticise referees but there were several questionable decisions today. There was a number of times when SuperSport players pretended to be hurt to wind down the clock.

"He allowed this which cooled the game down. I will not speak against him. Referees are human too but it raises questions."

SuperSport will now face Cape Town City in the Telkom Knock-out final on December 10 with a venue yet to be confirmed.
