Johannesburg - Former Orlando Pirates and current KV Oostende midfielder Andile Jali said he has been following the Buccaneers 2015/16 season all the way from Belgium.

Jali concluded that although Pirates started off their campaign badly, they did however redeem themselves towards the end of the season, this was when it was too late for the team to compete for the league title.

The 26-year-old player spent four and half years with the Buccaneers before joining the Belgian outfit, Oostende in January 2014, and was part of the Pirates team that won the back-to-back trebles, who had overcome all odds to reach the 2013 CAF Champions League final which they ultimately lost to Al Ahly of Egypt.

“I have been following them throughout the last season from Belgium,” insisted Jali.

“I think they didn’t start the season well, they didn’t do well in the first round of the campaign.

“But they pulled up their socks in the second round but it was a little too late for them.

“I believe that if they started the season the way they ended, maybe they could have competed for the league championship.”

The former University of Pretoria player’s contract with Oostende is due to elapse in June 2017 and "Gattuso" revealed that he is not yet concerned about his next move as he intends to enjoy his football in the next season.

Jali also said that he has no intentions of coming back to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) but he will instead play his trade in Europe even if he leaves his current club.

“No, I’m not coming back to play in the PSL anytime soon.”

“Yes I have one more year left on my contract but I haven’t planned yet what my next move would be.

“I still have a lot of time to think about it carefully and I don’t want to make any mistake, so I will take my time.”
