Swallows FC frontman Ruzaigh Gamildien says his fine form this season is down to the disappointment he felt after being released by Chippa United.

The 31-year-old striker has scored seven league goals already this term, alongside SuperSport United's inform frontman Bradley Grobler, Cape Town City's Mduduzi Mdantsane and Mamelodi Sundowns star Themba Zwane.

Gamildien's goals have been a big part of the Dube Birds' superb start to the 2020/21 Premiership campaign, which sees the club level on 21 points with league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

He scored two goals as Swallows beat Cape Town City 3-2 on Tuesday.

Speaking after  the game the former Steenberg United attacker revealed: "I just think I came back really motivated because I was a bit disappointed with my previous club (Chippa United) after I got released.

"I had small goals for myself for the season and obviously most of my performances is actually through the coaches who believed in me and actually giving me a chance to prove myself once again.

"Obviously those are personal goals (being a top goal scorer), but most importantly is for the team to be as high as possible in the league.

"It all goes down to belief and obviously believing in one another as a team."
