Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Joseph "Banks" Setlhodi says that firing current coach Steve Komphela would leave a bad reflection on the club.

The club suffered their third consecutive defeat after losing 1-0 to ASEC Mimosas in the CAF Champions League on Saturday.

A 2-0 midweek loss to Platinum Stars after getting knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Orlando Pirates by the same scoreline last weekend.

According to Goal website, Setlhodi admits that Komphela needs another season before he can be judged on his performance as the club’s coach.

"I always compare when it comes to firing a coach. At least if they give him another season or maybe the second season then they can judge from there," Setlhodi said.

"But Steve is using everything the ex-coach was using. At present, he doesn’t have his own team. He doesn’t have anything for himself."

"Firing a coach after a season or half a season that is not a good reflection of a team like Kaizer Chiefs. Chiefs is not (Jomo) Cosmos or a small team. It is a big team."
