Marumo Gallants and Kaizer Chiefs ended the game with 10-men in a goalless DStv Premiership draw on Sunday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

In an encounter that Amakhosi were desperate to collect maximum points to climb the standings as they now occupy 13th place, which is a considerable concern for head coach Stuart Baxter.

Meanwhile, Gallants, who were dominant against the visitors, are in the 14th spot with a game in hand following their CAF Confederation Cup duties.

Gallants would feel that the match was there for the taking, while Chiefs continue to find a rhythm under Baxter since he returned for a second coaching stint in May.

The home side recorded 11 shots at goal, keeping Chiefs’ goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi busy as he had to make four saves that were on target.

Chiefs only managed seven attempted shots, with three hitting the target, signalling a frustrating afternoon for the Soweto giants.

And it all started when Sifiso Hlanti's name went into the referee's book before the half-hour mark.

He then spent much of the game being cautious in his attempt at doing his job at left-back.

It took another forty-five minutes before he received his marching orders for a reckless challenge on Katlego Otladisa, giving Gallants an advantage heading into the final twenty-five minutes on the match.

But five minutes later, Celimpilo Ngema was shown a straight red card as both sides ended the match with 10 players each on the field of play.

Chiefs are back in action next Saturday against AmaZulu, while Gallants travel to Golden Arrows on Sunday.
