Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has called on his charges to be consistent in their performance ahead of Friday's match with Maritzburg United.

Chiefs have struggled to hit the ground running under the mentorship of the Italian, registering just one victory in four matches.

Their only win came against Free State Stars in the MTN8 quarter-finals, while they have played out two draws and lost one in the Absa Premiership.

Solinas admitted that his side must start grinding out results to compete for trophies ahead of their clash with the Team of Choice.

Solinas told SABC: "We need more consistency because Chiefs is a big club. We need consistency in results.

"We play and compete to win the league, but need consistency to do that. The up and down performance is not good for us as a big club.

"The team has big history winning trophies and I agree that we need to be consistent."
