Cape Town - SuperSport United are focusing on their current 2016/17 Absa Premiership campaign before thinking of coach Stuart Baxter's replacement.

The Scotsman has been appointed as the new Bafana Bafana head coach and is set to start his five-year contract with the national side next month.

Baxter has had two successful seasons with the Tshwane side having guided United to victory in the Nedbank Cup final in his first season.

Matsatsantsa had a chance to claim glory in this seasons Telkom Knockout but Cape Town City defeated Baxter's charges in the final in December last year.

United media spokesperson Brian Moshoeshoe confirmed to Sport24 that the club will only start their search for a new mentor when the season closes.

SuperSport are two games away from reclaiming the Nedbank Cup title and are up against Absa Premiership minnows Chippa United on Saturday in the semi-finals at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

Moshoeshoe further revealed that there are no standout candidates that the club are looking at to replace Baxter.

Baxter is set to take charge of South Africa for the second time having mentored the senior national side between 2002-2004.

The coach will hope to guide Bafana Bafana to victory next month in his first match in charge as they travel to Nigeria to take on the Super Eagles in a 2019 AFCON qualifier.
