Cape Town - SuperSport United head coach Eric Tinkler conceded that he may have brought Thabo Mnyamane back from injury a little too soon.

Mnyamane, along with fellow Supersport forwards Jeremy Brockie and Bradley Grobler, showed little threat up front in Saturday's 0-2 Tshwane derby defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Tinkler came to the former Tuks striker's defence though, explaining that he is not fully match-fit and adding that he expects the player to soon be at his best.

"We possibly brought Thabo back into this game slightly too early," Tinkler was quoted saying by The SowetanLIVE website.

"He was out with an injury and I think he struggled with the tempo and pace of the game."

"Maybe that's an error that I made in terms of my judgment, but we know his qualities and what he's capable of.

"If he gains anything it is match fitness and moving forward he can only get better."

Mnyamane forced his way into the Bafana Bafana squad last season and scored six goals in 27 league games for SuperSport.
