Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Eric Tinkler admits that the departures of midfielders Fortune Makaringe and Siphesihle Ndlovu are big losses for the club.

The pair both joined Orlando Pirates in the transfer window and the Team of Choice have been working hard to fill the void left by their exits.

Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia has given Tinkler the objective of finishing in the top eight after the former Bafana Bafana midfielder worked wonders to save the club from relegation in the last campaign.

And Tinkler specifically noted that the Kwazulu-Natal-based side would miss Makaringe's 'creativity' and the 'box-to-box work ethic' of Ndlovu.

"Those are two massive losses, that's why we have players we hope can fill the gap. We will never find the same exact creativity Makaringe used to give us, you will never find the box-to-box work ethic that Ndlovu had. We hope to find someone who can suit our style of play, but I can say so far so good," he said.

Meanwhile, Tinkler has revealed the club are not done in the transfer market just yet and are using the Africa Cup of Nations as a scouting platform.

"We have other players we've spotted from the AFCON, we are still looking at adding two or three more players to finalise the squad," he added.
