Daniel Cardoso is confident that Kaizer Chiefs will be in the race for the Premiership title next season with Gavin Hunt in charge.
The former Bidvest Wits boss has taken charge at Naturena as he prepares his squad for the upcoming DStv Premiership campaign.
Hunt won three league titles with SuperSport United before claiming a fourth at the Clever Boys in 2017.
Speaking to the club's official website, Cardoso explained that despite missing out on the 2019/20 title, they are in good shape to challenge next term.
The 31-year-old defender said: "We have worked pretty hard and we are getting into the groove. We have done a lot of running, even though most was done with the ball.
"The coach likes to joke, but he also makes it very clear what he wants from all of us. He comes in with his own philosophy and it's crucial that we, as players, buy into that. We need to hit the ground running."
Cardoso added: "However, that's now all water under the bridge. We need to look forward – we have a new coach, who is very ambitious, and he has set new goals and targets. We will definitely be knocking on the door with Hunt in charge."
