Cape Town - Bidvest Wits were rarely troubled as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over Young Buffaloes at in Johannesburg on Friday night to secure a 3-1 aggregate win and a place in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff round.

Having slumped to a 1-0 defeat in their first-leg tie in Manzini in mid-September, Wits knew they would have to score more than one goal while keeping a clean sheet.

Wits coach Gavin Hunt made several changes to his starting line-up and it paid off handsomely as the Clever Boys produced an assured performance to avoid a potential slip-up.

The first goal of the game arrived on 22 minutes, with Gift Motupa firing home to level the scores on aggregate.

Motupa struck again just seven minutes later to put Wits in the driver's seat, and the hosts comfortably saw out the remainder of the half.

Sundowns were dealt a major setback just after the hour mark as Keagan Ritchie received his marching orders for second bookable offence, leaving Wits to play the final 30 minutes with ten men.

However, they managed to come through the final half hour unscathed as Young Buffaloes failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage.

In fact, despite being reduced to ten men, it was Wits substitute Terrence Dzvukamanja who scored in the 83rd minute to give the home side a two-goal cushion.

And the visitors were unable to recover from that late setback as Wits held on comfortably to secure their place in the play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
