Cape Town - Bidvest Wits became the first team to qualify for the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals after they thrashed Magesi FC 6-0 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday night.

The hosts, who are unbeaten in the ABC Motsepe League this season, looked up for the cup-tie in the opening stages as they matched Wits for the first 20 minutes.

But Gavin Hunt's side then took control as Klaite got his first goal of the evening with a sublime finish on the bounce from 12 yards out following Siyabonga Nhlapo's cross on the right.

Two minutes later they were two goals to the good, Seete turning a cross from Nhlapo past his own keeper at the near post to leave Magesi with an uphill battle.

The cup-tie was effectively over for Jacky Ledwaba's men at half-time as Klaite struck twice in the space of four minutes to complete his three-goal haul.

First the winger was unselfishly teed up by Elias Pelembe from inside the area after Maduwa Rendani had spilled a cross into his path on 41 minutes, before Klaite converted from the spot when the Clever Boys were awarded a penalty for Andile Makhwe's foul on Vilakazi.

The Limpopo outfit looked for a response after the break and Mpho Morakaladi went within inches of pulling one back with a diving header that went of the post on 62 minutes, while at the other end Dillon Sheppard saw his shot come back off the crossbar.

But another error from Rendani gifted Wits a fifth goal on 80 minutes as Vilakazi's strike went in off the keeper, who was beaten again two minutes later by Klaite, who expertly steered his downward header into the corner of the net to cap off a superb night.
