Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns have extended Siyanda Zwane's contract for a further season after deciding to exercise the one-year option they had on his deal.

Zwane joins the likes of Leonardo Castro and Wayne Arendse in extending his stay at Chloorkop, with the club also exercising options for both those players.

The 31-year-old will now go into his fourth campaign as a Brazilian in 2017/18, after joining the reigning African champions from Golden Arrows in 2014.

The player's agent, Mandla Mthembu, confirmed the news to Soccer Laduma website, saying: "In terms of the feedback from the club, Siyanda is a very likeable guy and has a positive influence in the dressing room."

Mthembu said that a long-term extension was what he hoped to achieve for his client, adding: "Having said that, we are still engaging with the club in an effort to secure his long-term future.

"We do not want a situation whereby six months down the line he finds himself uncertain of his future. He wants security so he can fully focus on the field of play."

The right-back, who has made a handful of appearances for Bafana Bafana in his career, featured 16 times for Pitso Mosimane's side this past season.
