Over the past decade, decorated former Manchester United defender Gary Neville - a one-club man and major feature of the illustrious “Fergie era” - has had two meaningful stints as a Sky Sports critic, one very much ongoing.

While he may not find universal popularity with fans of arch-rivals Manchester City or Liverpool, for instance, you cannot accuse Neville of being bland or passionless in his television work.

The 46-year-old from Bury scaled admirable new heights for sheer conviction - while staying consistently articulate at the same time - earlier this week when he gave his firm “anti” views on the massively controversial European Super League ... not too long before it all (seemingly) went up in flames.
