Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he was glad to see his side test Wydad Casablanca in Friday's CAF Champions League first leg semi-final in Rabat.

Wydad won the contest 2-1 although Sundowns bagged a vital away goal against the giants from Morocco.

Anele Ngcongca got the strike which was his first for the Brazilians.

As such, coach Pitso Mosimane believes his side can look forward with confidence to the second leg.

"While I'm not entirely happy with the result because we lost 2-1, I'm happy with the performance from the team bacause it's always a difficult place for us here in Morocco but we improve," he told Downs' official website.

"We made a lot of mistakes at the back, but you have to understand that everyone is stressed because it's the CAF Champions League semi-finals and everyone wants to go to the finals. I believe we should have cleared the ball in the first goal.

"It was the first time I see Wydad so stressed at the back, it's also because we scored the important away goal."

The 2016 African champions flew back into South Africa on a chartered flight on Saturday and are next in action on Tuesday in the Premiership when they face relegation-threatened Black Leopards in Thohoyandou.

The second leg of the CCL semi is on Saturday at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.
