South African tennis stars Lloyd Harris and Kevin Anderson started their grass court campaigns in impressive fashion on Tuesday.
Harris, currently ranked 54th in the world, beat French veteran Gilles Simon 6-4, 7-5 at the ATP 250-level event in Stuttgart, Germany.
The Capetonian will next face Canadian third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime for a spot in the Mercedes Cup quarter-finals.
Harris is using the event as part of his preparation for Wimbledon, which starts on 28 June. He will also play in Halle, Germany next week, followed by another grass event in Mallorca, Spain.
Anderson, the world No 100, defeated Britain's Jay Clarke 6-3, 7-6 (7/0) at the Viking Open in Nottingham, England.
Anderson is the fourth seed at the ATP Challenger event. The Challenger circuit is the second tier of men's professional tennis, just below the ATP Tour.
Anderson, a Wimbledon finalist in 2018, next faces Czech Lukas Rosol.
