South Africa's doubles specialist Raven Klaasen is into the second round of the French Open.

Together with his Dutch partner, Robin Haase, Klaasen cruised to a straight sets victory over France's Gilles Simon and Hugo Gaston, 6-3 and 6-1.

They have a very difficult second round match ahead of them, however, as they come up against Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic, the second seeds in the tournament.

That match takes place on Thursday afternoon.

Klaasen's best ever performance at the French Open came in 2018 when he and his partner were knocked out in the third round.
