Cape Town - Kevin Anderson's dream run at this year's US Open at Flushing Meadows will come to an end in the quarter-finals - if bookmakers are to be believed...

South Africa's No 1 player has played some of his finest tennis in years in reaching the last 8 for the second time since 2015.

Anderson, the 28th seed, now faces America's last hope, 17th-seeded Sam Querrey, in the quarter-finals.

Standing 6-foot-8 to Querrey's 6-foot-6, the pair are level at 5-5 in previous ATP Tour hardcourt encounters.

Anderson will draw comfort from the fact he won their last clash 6-4, 6-1 in Montreal last month.

Leading SA bookies Sportingbet have Querrey as 7/10 favourite to progress to the semi-finals, while Anderson can be backed at an attractive-looking 20/19.

Should Anderson reach the semi-finals, he will play the winner between Spain's 12th-seed Pablo Carreño Busta and Argentinian Diego Schwartzman, who is the 29th seed.
