Sharapova jumps to second

Berlin - Maria Sharapova climbed to second in the WTA women's tennis rankings Monday behind Serena Williams, a day after defeating Petra Kvitova 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 in the China Open.

Williams, who is out with a knee injury, sees her points slip to 8 645, while Sharapova moves to 6 680, ahead of Romania's Simona Halep (6 246) and Petra Kvitova (6 126).
