1. Get enough sleep

According to the US National Sleep Foundation, bedtime habits can make a big difference to your quality of life. How well you sleep often depends on the bedroom environment: ensure there’s little noise and light, try a relaxing routine before bedtime. Aim to get at least eight hours of sleep every night.

2. Drink water

It’s practically free and has awesome health benefits, such as clearing skin, fuelling your muscles during exercise, and flushing toxins out your body. To stay hydrated, drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day.

3. Take long walks

A brisk walk can be all you need to keep you fit and healthy this summer. Your weight and the distance you walk are the biggest factors in how many calories you will burn. You might not be a fan of exercise but just adding a 30 minute walk can do wonders for your health. Keep walking.

4. Eat fruits and veggies

These have much-needed nutrients for your body and are naturally high in fibre, sugars and minerals. As a result, they can reduce the risk of many illnesses, like high blood pressure and heart disease.

5. Stop smoking

This lowers your chance of developing lung cancer and other diseases. According to Smokenders, quitting smoking can save you an average of R1 050 a month. So save up!
