5 Mins with Dineo Moeketsi

Actress and presenter Dineo Moeketsi is starring in a new movie called Mrs Right Guy. She talks to us about her role.

Please tell us about your role in the movie.

I'm the leading lady; I play the role of Gugu Hlatshwayo who’s dubbed "the walking wounded". An awful encounter leaves her with a terrible view of relationships. Life leads her to a crossroads and we see her weighing out her options.

How are you feeling about it?

I'm proud of the film and every cast member, not to mention the brilliant crew we worked with. I'm excited for people to see it and super keen on their response.

What are you most excited about with the movie?

I'm excited about people seeing a fresh perspective of South African rom-coms. I'm hoping for it to be a great conversation starter about relationships at dinner parties and social gatherings. I'm also quite excited to see those who will pick it as one of their favourite films of all time.

What should we expect from the movie?

Expect a great cast, great story, wonderfully shot film. Prepare to laugh, cry, choose sides and to feel hot under the collar.

When did you get into acting and how has the journey been so far?

I started acting at the age of 16. The journey has been richly blessed with a multitude of opportunities. I've learnt so much and am always excited to learn about the many layers of my own creativity within acting.

What do you love most about acting?

I love being a vehicle of emotion and an avenue of therapy. Telling a story that's not yours and having people lock into you as that character is one of the greatest rewards.

What’s your next move?

I prefer to play my cards close to my chest.
