Please tell us about your role.

I play a guy called Madoda, who’s the rightful heir to the throne, but he doesn’t know nor want it. He was taken away right after he was born and circumstances have led him back home. His father was the king of the place, and now it’s time for him to take over, but he doesn’t want that life because he’s used to being a ruthless criminal.

How is this role different from the ones you played in Ayeye and The Road?

On Ayeye, I played a man who was on drugs and a player. On The Road, I was a thug, but with good intentions. On uKhakhayi, I’m a ruthless criminal who doesn’t care about anyone.

How are you feeling about the show?

I’m excited, but also a bit disappointed because there wasn’t really a promo for it so I feel like most people don’t know about it. But on the same breathe, e.tv is a great channel with a lot of local content. Maybe with this one, they didn’t see the point of marketing it because the audience is used to the channel always bringing the best shows, like Umlilo and Ashes to Ashes. I’m also quite excited to join another channel. I’ve always been a DStv personality, and I’m looking forward to being exposed to a new audience. I’m excited about the show itself – it’s the best script I’ve read so far. Usually when I’m on shows, I only read and focus on my lines but now I find myself reading the whole script.

Speaking of a new audience, are you ready to have more people making you #MCM?

(Laughs) Not to brag or anything, but I’ve been man crush for a while now. Just this week I was someone’s man crush. But I’m excited to gain more fans who’ll love my work.

What can viewers expect from as you debut on e.tv?

Viewers can expect a lot of action. The introduction to my character is out of this world. It’s actually the best introduction you’ll ever see!

Catch SK tonight on The Kingdom: uKhakhayi at 9:05pm on e.tv.

About the show

The Kingdom: uKhakhayi

The Kingdom: uKhakhayi is a rural drama series based on a royal AmaBhaca tribe that was led by Chief Zwelakhe, who is now deceased. The kingdom is currently under the leadership of a paramount chief, Jezebomvu. The drama explores the quest for power by the ruthless and cunning paramount chief. This power struggle leaves the family divided into two camps: one camp is led by the matriarch of the house, while the other by Jezembovu. Stories of betrayal, fights for leadership and backstabbing make for compelling viewing.
