There’s a new kid on the block in the form of Qhama Xhali, a social media enthusiast with a passion for fashion, television and social media. He speaks about presenting Man Cave and his future plans.
When you auditioned for the Man Cave presenter search did you expect to win?No, I didn't expect to win at all because even my audition video wasn't intense. I took the angle of humour and I think that caught the attention of the judges and producers.
How are you finding Man Cave as opposed to other productions you’ve worked on?|I worked on community TV for more than two years and then I joined an Internet TV channel. That experience was surreal because that’s where I gained a lot of my initial experience. The beginning phases of my career laid the foundation of the brand that I’m building, and I will always be thankful for those years. Man Cave is great in the sense that they let you play with the script quite a bit and the people I've had the pleasure of presenting with share a lot of what they know during shoots. I am honoured to be a part of the team, all the time!
How is it like working with Lunga and Janez?I had a fitness shoot with Lunga where we had to do push ups, pull-ups and other activities. I've never had another man show me up in that way, in all my life. It truly was top 10 most emasculating experiences of my life. Overall, he's a great dude! I actually enjoyed that shoot because of him.
I've spoken to Janez a number of times but I've never had the pleasure of shooting with him. Which is probably for the best if there’s going to be another fitness challenge.
What has the audience response been like since you joined the show? The audience response to me joining the show has been really positive. I try to get a lot of feedback from friends or social media but I lean more on my friends because they are brutally honest. Social media always gives me real-time responses on what people think.
Apart from presenting what else are you working on?Apart from presenting, I also create my own video content on social media. From 9 to 5, I’m a social media manager at a digital marketing company and I'm also one of the founders of an annual event called ChaseFest.
What should your fans expect from you in the future? All my supporters can expect to see more of me on TV shows as well as the online content I create regularly... They can also expect a new hairstyle in the winter.
