5 Minutes with Mo Flava

The Metro FM DJ talks about his hot new single, and his passion for education. Screen Shot 2017-02-06 at 3.33.24 PM Mo Flava has been in the industry for years and currently hosts The Drive on Metro FM. He also has a new single for all house lovers titled The Music ft. Lelo Kamau. How is your single being received? The people who listen to house music love it. I put it up on social media platforms and it has been received well. Also it’s important that other DJs love it, so they are showing love. What is the process of putting together your songs and choosing collaborations? The beat is produced and completed first but I do leave room for the vocalist after. With this song I had a sweet crisp melody so I wanted to get someone to marry that with their voice. I found an up and coming vocalist Lelo, but I always choose my collabos based on the melody. You also have such passion for helping others get tertiary education. What inspired you to offer bursaries? I studied media and got my qualification. I found a lot of kids want to be in media so it is better being skilled than a fluke or rely on just talents. I want to promote that you should get the skills as well, so I want to give young people an opportunity as many can’t afford tertiary education. What can we expect from you in this year? My EP is dropping in a couple of weeks and I’m also shooting the video for the single. I also have various events planned for the Easter holidays, so this year is just music, music and more music for me.
