What are you most appreciative of about 2018?

I’ve really been blessed with in both my business and personal life. One thing that stands out is my album Victory. God really came through for me on that one and I’m so grateful.

You've just been named the best female rapper in the game by the SA Hip Hop Awards. How did that make you feel?

Wow, it was bliss! I don’t remember everything that happened in that moment, but I do remember thinking “God is GOOOOOOOD!”

Who is your personal favourite female MC, both locally and internationally?

Locally, Rouge is a favourite and internationally it’s Cardi B.

What would you like people to take away from your music?

I’d like for the them to feel VICTORIOUS, and hopefully have them believe that anything is possible.

What do you enjoy the most about local hip hop?

I love that it’s only getting bigger and better. We're pioneering almost everything that we do, and that for me is the most exciting part.

Name five things are you hoping to receive as a gift these holidays?

I’m really not too big on materialistic things when it comes to this time of the yea, so I actually don’t have a wish-list. My boyfriend buys the absolute best gifts though — from bags to shoes and jewellery, he really knows how to spoil me. I’m keen to see what he’s been plotting.

What was the best conversation you had this year?

There have been plenty! When you interview people for a living and pretty much rub shoulders with anyone you’ve ever looked up to, you tend to have a lot of great conversations. Also when business is good the conversations are just as good [chuckles]. There are a few things my Pastor and his wife said to me that have left an indelible mark.

The best thing about being featured on VICE was…. Being able to show international audiences that there is so much more to women in hip hop than meets the eye, especially African women.

2019 is going to be my year of…. Soaring to even greater heights! I’ve set a solid foundation for myself in the game, now it’s time to expand and elevate.
