It's easy for a couple to get so caught up in their lives that they forget to show their love for each other. A surprise is a good way to keep the relationship active and remind both of you not to take each other for granted. However, sometimes we tend to think that we know our significant other, only to find that we’re wrong.
For example, there was a video on Facebook of a husband surprising his wife by renovating the kitchen only to find out that she hated it. Most men should know that a house is an extension of a woman’s personality; he should have given her the money to do the kitchen renovations herself. He would hate it if one day he gets home and she has changed the mag wheels on his car… on some SURPRISE! When she says she wants to lose weight, it doesn’t mean buy her a diet book. Though you may think it is thoughtful.

Because she enjoyed the spa sessions you booked for her last year, it doesn’t mean you must repeat it this year. It is just plain lazy.
Giving her any other day, without her asking for it, that is a welcomed surprise. But giving her money on her birthday to go spoil herself…that’s plain lazy.
She is the mother and the woman of the house but buying her pots is a bad move. She may not like to cook but that doesn’t mean you have a right to renovate the kitchen without her knowing and then yell surprise… it is just lazy.
