Breakfast oven pan pizza


Enjoy this thick base pizza topped with caramelized onions, cheese, biltong and piquante peppers.

Kellogg’s products: Kellogg’s All-Bran or Kellogg’s Special K

Serves 4-6 people


  • 3 x 250 ml (3 c) cake flour
  • 22 ml (41/2 t) baking powder
  • 5 ml (1 t) salt
  • 250 ml (1 c) All-Bran Flakes or Special K, slightly crunched
  • 2 eggs
  • 375 ml (1 ½ k) milk
  • 60 ml (1/4 c) oil


  • 2-3 ripe tomatoes, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • Olive oil
  • Fresh oregano and basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • Olive oil
  • Thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Mature cheddar, biltong and piquante peppers


Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a baking sheet or oven pan.

Step 1

BASE Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Then add the Kellogg’s All-Bran or Kellogg’s Special K.

Step 2

Beat the eggs, milk and oil together. Add to the flour mixture and mix till well combined. Press into the prepared oven pan,

TOMATO TOPPING: Mix together all the ingredients for the tomato mix and spread onto the pizza base.

ONION TOPPING: Fry the onions and garlic in oil till soft and slightly caramelized. Spoon some over the tomato mix.

Top with Cheddar cheese, biltong and piquante peppers. Bake for about 15-20 minutes till the crust is done and the cheese has melted.

VARIATION: Omit the tomato and onion base, but spread the base with basil pesto, sprinkle a good handful of baby tomatoes on top and finish with boconcini cheese. Bake till base is cooked and cheese has slightly melted.
