Cinnamon and honey granola


Honey gives the sweetness to this crunchy granola with its hint of cinnamon.

  • 100 g each Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes, All-Bran and Special K
  • 150 g pecan nuts or cashews (or mixed nuts)
  • 50 g sesame seeds
  • 100 g each sunflower and pumpkin seeds
  • 125 ml (½ c) oil
  • 250 ml (1 c) honey
  • 50 g brown sugar
  • 3 ml (heaped ½ t) ground cinnamon
  • Milk or almond or rice milk (to serve)
  • Fresh fruit eg berries, sliced banana, oranges (to serve)

Preheat the oven to 160°C.

Step 1: Mix together the cereals with the nuts and seeds.

Step 2: Mix the oil, honey, sugar and cinnamon with 125 ml (1/2 c) of water in a saucepan and bring to the boil, stir until the sugar has dissolved.

Step 3: Pour the honey mixture over the dry ingredients and mix well. Spread out evenly on baking sheets and bake slowly for about 40—60 minutes, turning frequently.

Step 4: Bake until the granola is golden. Switch off the oven, leave granola in oven to dry out.

Step 5: Cool and store in airtight containers.

Step 6: 

Serve with fresh fruit and milk.
