Classic hair accessories that are making a comeback

Some of our favourite celebs have been rocking adorable hair accessories as of late, giving us mega retro vibes with their choices.

To pay homage to these famous females. we’ve decided to rundown some of our top looks and share how you can create them at home.

Butterfly clips

Vanessa Hudgens pulled these off at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards last month (May17) and we’re dying to try them out again! With so many sizes and colours on offer this accessory really is versatile, but we’re focusing on the classic twist and clip back look, one rocked by Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar back in the day. Separate the hair from the front of your crown into four to five sections, thin enough to secure but not too thick it will be difficult to style, and twist each section a few inches from the hairline and fasten with a butterfly clip.

Model of the moment Bella Hadid rocked these recently and transported us straight back to cult classic Clueless with both her hair and outfit.

Lala also rocked a single patterned slide recently and we are inspired.

This is for those who boast a middle parting; get yourself some large, plain barrettes and simply slide them in on both sides of your head near the centre, pushing the strands out of your face.

Lala is one of the people who brought back this accessory too – the big, squishy scrunchie is one of the biggest hair trends from the good old ‘90s that’s being brought back to life in 2017.

A classic approach for this piece is the reliable high ponytail, which can be worn either super neat or messy. As for the first, use a brush to gather all your hair (no parting visible) and pull up, moving the brush as you do so to ensure there’s no strays. Once tied – tight but not so that your scalp is being stretched – add a spritz of hairspray. For a messy look, simply bulk your tresses up and tie with the scrunchie – but go for a knot if your hair is too long and gets in the way!
