Why do you love to dance?

From a young age, I was always amazed and inspired by the dancers I watched and fell instantly in love with the art. I knew that one day I wanted to make other young dancers feel the same. Dancing allows me to break free from the norm. You’re able to become someone else and express so much through your movements, it’s truly a wonderful feeling.

How long have you been dancing?

I began dancing in Grade One with L’Academie de Danse where I was trained and nurtured into the dancer I am today. Now it’s been roughly 11 or 12 years of dancing and I don’t intend stopping anytime soon.

What do you love about The National School Of Arts?

I love the fact that we’re blessed with many opportunities, and that we’re always encouraged to try new things, especially in terms of our art forms. This encouragement helps us become versatile dancers so that we thrive in the industry, just like so many other NSA alumni.

What are your aspirations with regards to dance?

I’m currently aiming for top ballet student at the National School of Arts in matric. Once I’m done, I’d love to join a professional ballet company like Joburg Ballet or Cape Town City Ballet to obtain a “Principal dancer” status. Eventually, I want to travel to experience different cultures of dance, increase my dance vocabulary, range and technique of movement, so that when I open my own dance company, I’d be able to offer multiple training methods and enrich my craft.
