‘What’s an easy hair care regimen for natural 4c hair that is simple and inexpensive?’ – Amy-Rae
We’re going to give you the shortest answer we can because, as we’re sure you know, this could be a very detailed post! But, like you, we believe in keeping it simple.
This might not be a sexy answer, but we’re still firm believers in the LOC system.
As a refresher, LOC stands for Liquid (water), Oil and Cream and is a great way to moisturise natural hair. Read more about the LOC methodHERE. Note that you can swap O and C steps (so that it’s LCO and not LOC) – some naturals have found this works best for them.
Your weekly routine should look something like this:
- pre-treat your hair with a DIY oil-treatment (read about an easy oneHERE).
- wash with a sulphate-free shampoo or co-wash using conditioner
- follow up with a deep conditioner treatment (read about our DIYHERE).
- twist or air dry
Maintenance during the week:
This depends on your personal preference. Whether you’re a wash-and-goer or a twist-out fan, make sure to moisturise your hair as and when you need to (yes, the LOC Method!).
Always protect your hair at night with a silk/ satin doek or a silk/ satin pillowcase.
How expensive/ cheap you make your hair routine depends on you, really. We suggest you splurge on deep conditioners and creams to seal in moisture.
