There’s nothing more beautiful than new love. But, would you be able to tell if he was manipulating you emotionally with some of the nice things he says? Goes from zero to 60 There’s a part of you that tells you ‘it’s too much too soon,’ – listen to it. Even if it was love at first sight, it doesn’t mean you should be planning your grandchildren’s birthday parties just a few months after your first date. Having relationship goals is good, but dude may just be overselling himself here, so he can figure out what makes you tick. Says ‘When we get married, things will be different’ He lets you know very early in the relationship that marriage is what he wants. But, he also makes it his job to lay down the rules. He says things like, ‘once we get married, you’ll have to do the cooking’, or ‘you’ll have to stop going out to parties.’ These are huge alarm bells. Pushes too hard You say you don’t want to talk about it right now, and he tells you how important it is for you to talk about your feelings and pushes you to. Yes, it’s a good thing to be able to communicate and talk about the way you feel, but you shouldn’t be forced to do it. This is a sign that he doesn’t actually acknowledge your feelings and is more interested in getting his way. Is crazy jealous Being a little jealous of your celebrity crush is one thing, but wanting to throw a punch at every guy who looks at you a certain way is a bit psychotic. Next thing, you’ll be blamed for making random eyeballs stare at you; like you even need that in life. Says ‘It’s hard to control myself when I’m around you’ This is a garbage excuse to do things and not be held accountable. ‘I just couldn’t control myself around you that I accidentally raped you?’ This is how you are manipulated into thinking things are your fault when they aren’t. Too over the top Sometimes doing too much for you can be a way to manipulate you emotionally. You’ll find yourself in situations where you can’t question anything or say what you want to say to him because ‘he has done so much for you…ncooo.’ Calls a search party when you don’t respond to a text You missed a call from him about five minutes ago, and before you even get a chance to call back, the dude has already tracked you down and demanded an explanation. He gets heart palpitations when you don’t respond to his messages in, like, less than two seconds. Being this emotionally needy is manipulative and there’s nothing cute about it.
