Having a man who doesn’t listen to you can be exhausting and no women should have to go through that. Here’s what you can do to change this.

Alert him first

Much as men struggle with this, women also do. It’s important to prepare him for what’s coming. Tell him that you’re about to say something important. This way, you avoid catching him off-guard. You can start by saying to him “hey babe, listen”…, and immediately you’ve grabbed his attention.

Pick a convenient time for the two of you

Wanting to talk in the middle of the night is a bad idea if you want his undevided attention. Imagine if the same was done to you, wouldn’t you be grumpy?

Don’t talk to him when he’s distracted

He’s watching his favorite show and quiet frankly nothing matters at that particular moment. Naturally, men don’t do well with multitasking, so keep this in mind. Communiation flows better when there’s no activity happening in the background.

Always start with the positive

Unlike starting a conversation with a blame, rather start by saying what the problem is and how you think both of you can contribute to solving it.

Say what you mean…

…in words! Often women think using non verbal communication is the solution and no, it’s not. This can be frustrating for the both of you because having to decode another person’s body language isn’t an easy thing.

Keep it to one topic at a time

It’s very easy to stray from the topic at hand. Bringing up old issues during a conversation can turn one tiny issue into something very big. So the next time you have a chat with your man, minimise it to one topic at a time.
