We were first introduced to Chef Benny Masekwameng in 2012 as a MasterChef South Africa judge, fast forward to 2017, Chef Benny is now the Executive chef at Tsogo Sun.
We caught up with the celebrity chef to find out more about his role at the upcoming Le Kap Lifestyle Fair making its debut in JHB at Steyn City on the 10th June 2017.
Please tell us bit about your love for food/cooking.I started cooking with my mom when I was 8 years old to help support her cooking business. I had to follow her and help and that was my first interaction with food. I realized I enjoyed doing it. Though I loved cooking, after matric I actually wanted to study electrical engineering but the funds were not there so decided to go do something that I loved, which was cooking.
How has the journey been so far?
Its been great. The big turnaround was when I was a judge of Master chef which gave me exposure and opened up other great opportunities such as radio and mcing at various events and also encouraging young kids to dream and believe they can do it.
Please tell us about your role for this week’s Le Kap Lifestyle fair?
My role is to unleash beautiful dishes that the crowd will enjoy.
