Thandeka Matsoha, Senior Brand Manager for Johnnie Walker SA, says  that one of the reasons the brand saw it fit to celebrate woman's month is because one of the biggest misconceptions of whisky is that it is predominantly enjoyed by our more older male counterparts when in actual fact women also prefer whisky as their drink of choice. "This event celebrates exactly that - women with a taste for whisky,” she said. Thandeka further adds, “The women’s brunch was a great way of commemorating women in all walks of life, women who are actively self-disrupting and pushing boundaries in their respective industries. All this while maintaining the long standing Johnnie Walker brand sophistication. ”

Early last year Johnnie Walker introduced us to Jane Walker, a campaign that coincided with Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day celebrations. Jane Walker is a brand  icon celebrating the many achievements of women and those on the shared journey toward gender equality and equal representation. At a corporate level, Diageo stays true to its mission by supporting the Jane Walker initiative through action-oriented programming. Diageo also promotes gender equality in the company - women comprise 40% of Diageo’s  executive committee, nearly 40% of its Board, and nearly 50% of Johnnie Walker's expert blending team, who craft the fine whisky, are women.
