Lunch Date: DJ Zinhle

Zinhle Jiyane is no stranger to taking fashion risks (and succeeding!), setting trends and being all around fierce and fab, so it was no huge surprise when the superstar DJ was recently announced as the S/S 2013 ambassador for fashion retailer, LEGiT. “Her music, fashion sense and personality makes her an ideal collaborator for LEGiT as she effortlessly reflects our ethos: Don’t Tell Me What To Wear," says LEGiT brand manager, Ocean Ngobeni. "With this range, our customers can look forward to a sexy and edgy limited edition of denim and tees, on-trend and in style!"

We just had to track down the 'My name is...' hitmaker to discuss style, that sizzling body and why she keeps her relationship under wraps...

Do you have a personal style philosophy, if so, what is it?

Wear what you feel comfortable in, experiment with your looks and get creative.

You knocked us out in the Kluk CGDT creation you wore to last year’s Channel O Music Awards. What’s been your fave red carpet moment?

That very moment at the Channel O's was my most fave.

What inspired you to start a range of watches (Era by DJ Zinhle)?

I love and wear a lot of accessories, I have been collecting watches for as long as I have been working. I love them and that is why I started a range of watches. I think they are such a fun and necessary accessory, and I think everyone deserves a beautiful watch.

Your collaboration with LEGiT is amazing, how did it come about?

It is amazing, thank you. I have been working with LEGiT since the Bonang range and then I knew that the time wasn't right for me because I needed to grow and prove myself to LEGiT. When the time was right, they approached me and I was more than ready to jump on. I had been watching the brand work with the likes of Zizo, Minnie, and Bonang and always wished that one day it would be my turn and that day is finally here and I am excited.

How involved were you in the design process?

I was a 100% involved, I love denim, who doesn't? The range has my face on it so it has to reflect my style and that is why I was so involved. It was fun to do cause I think of myself as a creative and stylish person.

The ads for the campaign are extremely eye-catching and we can’t get enough of your hot bod… How do you stay in such great shape?

I go to gym 3 times a week with a personal trainer and I watch what I eat as much as I can, but come Sunday, I eat whatever I want. Sunday is cheat day.

You have so many projects on the go, how do you stay organized and focused?

One day at a time, a lot of planning and sacrifice.

Before we add fashionista and entrepreneur to your CV, you’re a DJ first. What are the summer jams currently in high rotation in your personal music collection?

- Wake Me Up - Avicii

- Heaven - Da Les ft AKA

- Ngoku - Oskido ft Busiswa

- Happiness - Mafikizolo

When you’re not working, what do you do in your down time?

I catch up on my sleep, catch up on time with my boo and my bests Nomndeni and Masego, which usually includes a lot of shopping.

You’ve managed to keep your relationship under wraps. Why is it important for you to keep it to yourself?

I am a very private person and I also do not think it's fair for my partner to be made part of my work and the industry I am in.
