Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Opening Night

accreditation

On the 5th of March 2015, Melrose Arch was full of  fashion bloggers, photographers, designers and writers. Everybody had a unique style, the atmosphere was electric and there was a sense of excitement and anxiety.  The people were directed carefully into the fashion hall and were seated in an instant. Lights, camera and action!

The first show was Khosi Nkosi; he mainly focused on african prints and tribal engravings. The models  were seen wearing a lot of red lipstick and blue maxi detailed dresses. There was an interesting twist to the show! Two plus-sized beautiful women walked the runway wearing his designs. The dominant colours were reds, burgundy and blue tones. Very detailed gold accessories, jump-suits. Nomzamo Mbatha stunned everyone when she closed the show and modeled on the runway with beautiful Zulu shaped traditional red hat and lovely dress.

High top hats, long tailored skirts, high-waisted clothing and beige ankle boots were trending! The models had a natural make-up look with very seductive oxblood lipstick with their hair tied back. Absolutely stunning!

Marianne Fassler is known for her colourful, unconventional designs. Her theme for the evening was a more ripped denim look, in-terms of  denim jackets. The models were seen in  colourful eye-shadows, fade hairstyle and frocks. A lot of cool kids would appreciate most of the clothing she designed for fashion week.  This gorgeous white wedding gown (below) was the showstopper!

Keagan Mcfun from MAC cosmetics, who is one of the senior make-up artists for the Mercedes-Benz fashion week, gave us a few tips and told us what inspired the make-up looks, for the models.

"The theme for the make-up was rock n roll and expressing your inner femininity through freshness in skin, having one feature that really pops out,"

"Deep burgundy tones for autumn/winter, colours that tend to be anti-beauty,"

"Focus on minimal skin, bare down. Allow your natural look to shine through. Focus on dark brown colours for eye-shadow and a perfect shaped brow!"
