This just in! The Associates Press reports that Oprah Winfrey will be selling her famous Harpo studios to a developer within the next 30 days. Say what?! The studio is the place where one of the most loved TV shows, “The Oprah Winfrey Show” was filmed for decades. When the TV mogul ended her show in 2011 she debuted her own cable channel, Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). "We have entered into a purchasing agreement with Sterling Bay for the four-building Harpo Studios campus in Chicago's West Loop," Harpo told Crain's Chicago Business in a statement. "We expect the transaction to be closed in 30 days. The property will be leased back to Harpo for two years and the studio will continue to produce programming for OWN." The 14164 square meter studio lot is expected to sell for around R 342 million. When Winfrey began filming her show in 1990, there was an economic and residential boom in what was once known as deprived industrial area. In recognising the former talk show host’s successful transformation of the area, Chicago's former mayor Richard Daley named the street directly outside Harpo Studios 'Oprah Winfrey Way,' in 2011.
