A young female was allegedly assaulted by another student at the Junction residence, and has since left the country because of the incident.
The Wits student representative council and student leaders have taken to twitter about their concerns, and how the university needs to do more about stamping out sexual violence on campus:

Vice chancellor professor Adam Habib has hired Nomboniso Gasa to oversee the case and investigate.
Investigations are continuing and will wrap up in seven days, provided that all information has been received from the rape survivor.
Meanwhile, the university and students are working hard to ensure that future incidences do not occur.
