REVIEW: A Night At The BON Hotel Riviera on Vaal

My sister celebrated her 22nd birthday this January and we were also in need of a quick getaway. What better way to fulfil her birthday wishes than to treat her to a night away at BON Hotel Riviera on Vaal ?

There was a reason behind my generosity though. I’ve heard from people how gorgeous and relaxing the place is, plus as a Digital Editor, I am always under pressure to make sure everything is always on track (literally) I am always exhausted. So, we drove to the Vaal and enjoyed a few things at BON Hotel Riviera on Vaal .

Here are three things I enjoyed about my stay at The BON Hotel Riviera on Vaal:

It is only a 55-minute drive from Johannesburg, so think of it as a road trip; before you know it, you would’ve arrived. The hotel is family friendly – you can enjoy basking by the pool side with the kids.

Food and drink

On my arrival, I was welcomed with a bottle of wine and biltong, and I finished the wine almost immediately. The drinks are great – expect to pay about R165 for a bottle of red wine. We enjoyed the buffet dinner, the food itself was not out of this world but the service is so amazing that it covers for everything else.

Boat cruise

The hotel has a one-hour boat cruise (that was the highlight of my stay). You can choose to go on the cruise in the morning or afternoon, depending on your mood. If you’re on a romantic getaway, I would suggest the afternoon. Imagine having sundowners while gazing at the stars with your partner? The cruise will set you back R100pp.

Why BON Hotel Riviera on Vaal?

It’s close to Johannesburg, yet has everything you need to feel like you’re in faraway location. It provides a quiet environment that you need when on a vacation. It caters for everyone – kids, partners, friends and even your old family members. There is a lot to do, incuding picnics, golf, water sports and cruises. I hear there’s a spa, but I can’t comment much about it as I didn’t try it out. But, do grab your besties or family members and enjoy your stay.
