Rihanna and Drake’s ‘happy ending not guaranteed’

The two music stars have enjoyed an on-off relationship since 2009, though things have never appeared too serious.

They keep finding a way back to each other though, and at the recent MTV VMAs 29-year-old Drake made his feelings for the Barbados-born singer known when he told the A-list audience he’s been in love with Rihanna since he was 22.

But those close to the pair say a happy ending isn’t necessarily on the cards.

“They’re still on different pages when it comes to the relationship,” a source told Grazia magazine. “Drake absolutely loves Rihanna and would marry her tomorrow if her could. He’s made his feelings for her pretty clear before, and now he’s done it publicly it’s a real game-changer – but she’s still unsure if she’s ready to settle down. Friends are worried that she’s previously described Drake as ‘like an older brother’.

“For now things are going well between them, but those close to Drake are worried that he’ll end up broken-hearted again.”

Drake spoke out about the romance in 2010, explaining that Rihanna, 28, had just disappeared after the pair spent “quality time” together. The Canadian star made light of the situation though, explaining he had acted the same way in the past to former flames.

While Drake seems ready to dive into the relationship, even getting a shark tattoo similar to one Rihanna sports, the Diamonds singer apparently has her reservations.

“Rihanna was a bit taken aback and quite embarrassed by Drake’s speech (at the VMAs),” the insider said. “Her public persona is very chilled. She’s never been one for big public gestures.”
