Rolling in the deep

Deep conditioning can dramatically improve your hair’s condition, whether you have an afro or chemically treat your hair. You can head to the salon for a treatment or do it at home (it’s easier than it sounds!). If you want to do it yourself, you’ll need:

-       Deep conditioner (you can buy it in the hair department of any beauty or toiletry shop)

-       Plastic shower cap

-       Wide tooth comb and hair clips

-       Beanie or scarf

After washing and towel-drying your hair, divide it into sections using a comb and hair clips. Apply the deep conditioner to each section and cover your hair with the shower cap. Pop your beanie over this. This generates heat, opening the hair cuticle and allowing the product to penetrate the hair shaft. Rinse out after an hour and style as normal.
