In terms of the 2013/14 summer hair trends, the short, coloured bob like Ciara has will be a big trend, as well as red and blonde colours. Big hair will still be dominant.

Jawad Mophoto, owner of Lajawi Beaute Cafe.

Watch out for the beehive, which is making a comeback from the ’50s and ’60s, as well as the fringe and, of course, the big braid. The ponytail, and high or Spanish bun, are still in. Loose, wavy curls with movement are also a trend.

Nthato Mashishi, ambassador for Motions Haircare SA.

This season, less is more. The high bun/ pony is in. Short haircuts are in too, but your cut will depend on your facial structure. Lighter hair colour is also making wave this season.

Isaac Letele, owner of Head 2 Soul Hair Studio.

In terms of the 2013/14 summer hair trends, for the ladies there is a lot of volume, pixie cuts and spiking it up. Retro-inspired styles are making a comeback in a big way and rollers are back in style, if you have lots of hair.

Phepa Moloi, celeb stylist who’s worked on the manes of Kgomotso Christopher and Mbali Maphumulo.

This summer, look out for short, cropped hairstyles that are easy to manage, and low-maintenance, wake-up-and-go hairstyles.

Thomas Tsheola, educator/ celebrity stylist and PD for Frika Quality Hair Company.

This summer, weaves are brown, blonde or highlighted. Short cuts are in, which is interesting because last year it wasn’t the case.

Rupert Mpanza, celeb stylist who’s responsible for Gail Mabalane’s hot short cut.
