We were never ready for this - she was one of our favourite contestants on the singing show.

We are saddened to learn that Idols contestant Siyakha Tshayela has withdrawn from the show.

The decision is effective from 15 September. This is because of a dispute between the performer and an independent recording company.

According to Idols SA, participants are required to sign an exclusive recording deal with the Idols-appointed recording label when they enter the series.

It looks like firm favourite Tshayela had entered into discussions with another independent recording company before entering the programme, but she maintains there was no contract in place. The recording company insists there is.

The statement by Idols SA further reads: “Discussions have been held with all the affected parties since then, but there is still no resolution.  Due to conditions stipulated by the Idols format rights holder, we are unable to continue with a contestant that is currently involved in a legal dispute of this nature. Ms. Tshayela is therefore not able to continue as a contestant”.

Needless to say, that this was unexpected. Many fans were vying for her.
