The timeless taste of KFC

accreditation

Think KFC and immediately your tastebuds come alive – probably because KFC represents food that’s cooked just right. KFC’s chicken was first made by an American, Colonel Harland Sanders, in 1940 when he perfected his secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices at his restaurant in Kentucky. The very same original recipe is still used worldwide today.

KFC came to South Africa 42 years ago, when the first store opened in Orange Grove, Johannesburg, in 1971. South Africans took to the Colonel’s chicken in a big way: KFC recently opened its 700th franchise store in this country – a testament to its popularity.

KFC upholds the Colonel’s high standards by ensuring that staff undergo weeks of training to master its signature recipes and see to it that the food is prepared perfectly every time.

On a recent visit to the KFC kitchens, the TRUE LOVE team witnessed this for themselves. “We saw how strictly KFC’s hygiene protocols are adhered to, from spotless surfaces to staff washing their hands every 30 minutes. We also saw the customised timers that ensure the food cooks perfectly every time. KFC staff showed us their quality ingredients, sharing with us the motto of Colonel Sanders himself: ‘if you put the best in, you get the best out’.”

Strictly A-grade chicken is used, with each piece carefully selected to conform to international standards. The TRUE LOVE team left with the assurance that only the best ingredients are chosen by KFC and cooked with care.

Freshness is a must. In fact, all KFC suppliers are required to undergo a Yum! Supplier casino spiele Tracking, Assessment and Recognition (STAR) audit that has a reputation within the industry for being extremely rigorous.

And the company isn’t only about quality food: KFC’s commitment to its South African customers extends to helping the hungry. KFC’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, called Add Hope, was started in 2009 and, to date, has raised R127 million to feed hungry children in South Africa.

KFC also promotes active lifestyles for kids through the KFC Mini-Cricket programme, getting over 100 000 kids around South Africa playing cricket.

It shouldn’t be too surprising, then, that KFC has been voted the most loved fast food brand in South Africa for the last 14 years running in the Sunday Times Top Brand awards.

Trust KFC to provide quick, convenient food for the whole family – and check out the healthy alternatives they have added to their menu.

It’s all good…
