It’s an interview that had everyone on the edge of their seats. The Cover sat down with Thembisa Mdoda to ask her about being a divorcee, and the ugly public spat that ensued between her and her ex, Atandwa Kani.

Here are the 5 moments that stood out for us:

On her ex Atandwa Kani

“We met at school at Wits University. We were friends and our love relationship developed very quickly. We dated on and off for about 12 years before getting married.”

On her marriage ending

“I was with someone I loved and it ended. I have nothing to say about him, he's happy and I am happy. The reason why I don't have much to say about Atandwa is because I wasn't happy with how he handled things; he didn't put our kids first.”

On her divorce

“Our relationship broke up because we (him and I) weren't ready to be married; we were too young. I realised within the marriage that this life wasn't for me.”

Finding a new man

“There’s always space to love more. When are you going to live? He is in the entertainment industry. I trully believe God gave me this man so that whenever I speak to him, it feels as if I speak to God through him.”

“I love what I do and the people I meet with the show. I get to speak to them and they get to tell me about their relationship; their stories inspire me. OPW came when I was ready. The show helped me find my voice.”
