It's a year since she lost her husband and race car driver, Gugu Zulu. Letshego shares how a stranger from America helped her cope.
The former Fear Factor and Survivor SA contestant, Pop Up Gym owner sat down with Ruda Landman for the BrightRock Change Exchange to chat of her life changing moments including motherhood and losing her husband.
In the interview, Letshego mentions how a stranger from America called Chelsea who too lost her husband on Kilimanjaro the previous year, helped her immensely with coping with the loss of her husband and how they’ve maintained a friendship.
“When Gugu passed the news went as far as America and she heard it. She immediately wrote a letter to me to a Sunday Times journalist. Apparently it was published and a friend got ahold of it and gave it to me.”
“A month after Gugu’s passing the friend suggested I speak to Chelsea as she would be the only person who would understand what I was going through, particularly in the way we had lost our husbands. If you would like me to trace her, I will. And she did exactly that.”
Letshego also reveals how it took long for her to go back to her home.
This year again, Letshego will be participating in the Trek 4 Mandela climb up Kilimanjaro.
The initiative is taken up annually to raise funds to buy sanitary pads for school girls. This year the initiative is themed #Climb4Gugu in commemoration of the race car driver.
