Yvonne Chaka Chaka & Amanda Black get BET Awards nods

A statement released by Viacom confirms singer and humanitarian Yvonne Chaka Chaka will be honoured with the 2017 “BET Awards” International Global Good Star and Power Award, while singer Amanda Black has been nominated for Viewer’s Choice “Best International Act”.

Of her recognition, Yvonne says: “I am overwhelmed, humbled and overjoyed with this honour. I have received many awards and have performed on many stages in the world and getting this recognition just puts the pieces of the puzzle together.”

Amanda Black and Tanzanian performer Ray Vanny are nominated for Viewer’s Choice Award “Best International Act”, in conjunction with performers from the UK, South Korea, Canada, Australia and Jamaica.

Yvonne joins past Global Good winners, philanthropist Akon for his Lighting Africa initiative and Tanzanian supermodel Millen Magese for her dedicated work in maternal and women’s health as well as the education of African girls on self-care through her Millen Magese Foundation.

Fans can support their favorite Viewer’s Choice “Best International Act” by voting online at BET.com or on social media and tweeting or tagging BET International @BET_Intl on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #ipick. Voting closes on 22 June at 00:59 CAT.

Other Africans nominated in the awards are AKA, Babes Wodumo, Nasty C in the Best International Act: Africa.
