Zakes Bantwini plans to build a cancer facility in honor of his mother

Born in Kwa-Mashu outside Durban, KwaZulu Natal, Zakhele Madida to his family and friends. Zakes is a trained musician with a Social Entrepreneurship post-graduate qualification from GIBS. Zakes’ future entails building a breast cancer hospital in honor of his late mother Nomthandazo Madida, who fought a fatal battle with cancer.

“That is something I am passionate about and I would like to make a difference, even if it just a small contribution in the prevention of loss lives through breast cancer. I would like to encourage people to get their mammograms done and take preventative measures early. The long-term goal is to build a cancer facility in honor of my mother, but to also help disadvantaged women." says Zakes.

Zakes is one of the rare-finds in the industry, an all-rounder; performer, composer, dancer, former artist manager, former A&R at Sony Music and an academically qualified musician.
